thanks to everyone that came to see us during the Art Trek open studios - the weather was lovely, only a little rain on sunday. We have some catching up to do now as the workshop has been the studio for 10 days so we haven't been able to start commissions yet. Luckily I could make lanterns in our house (I have had to make about 100 over the last week or so!).
Our next event is the much anticipated Welcombe Open Studios which is in 6 weeks time - we are designing the leaflet in the next week or two and all details will be online then too. This year we have about 11 different venues with 2 of them showing mixed exhibitions, so it should be a really good event agian this year. Keep checking back here and on our website for details soon.

only 2 days left to visit the "making a lasting impression" exhibition at Torre Abbey in Torquay - we have 2 furniture pieces in this wonderful exhibition - if you visit today or tomorrow you can also see Antony Gormley's Field for the British Isles in the Spanish Barn there.
thursday was a busy day for us, delivering work to galleries and checking out some new places too - lots of driving about but a really lovely day. We had lunch in the very cool Town Mill Bakery in Coombe Street in Lyme Regis - a must if you are in the area and if you aren't you should go there anyway. The food is really good, very simple and rustic and served on lovely old bread boards in nice earthy ceramic bowls. Tables are long with benches so the place has a real sociable feel and we love the simplistic decor, plyboard walls, steel girders for table bases, old wooden boxes for shelving, books for you to read, just a very real kind of a place. I would have taken some pictures but wasn't sure if they would mind, but after looking at their website they say they are cool with it. Take a look at their website here.
we also stopped in at one of the other open studios taking part in art trek - the gallery at 360° based in the Old Sawmills at Filleigh near South Molten. The building and gallery space is beautiful - if you get a chance to visit them we recommend it. We especially wanted to see Jacob van der Beugel's ceramic installations and where he works now. We had seen a collection of his work at Toast in Bath and thought it was stunning. His studio is right next to the gallery so you can see quite a selection of work and a new piece he is working on too (the installation pictured is at the gallery). Other work in the exhibition includes fine furniture, glass, paintings and drawings by resident artists and guest artists. The exhibition runs until the 28th june.
it was good to see those of you who made it to the 1st weekend of our art trek open studio - we will be open again this Friday, Saturday & Sunday (26th, 27th & 28th june) from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
We sold one of our lovely blackened oak console tables (we kept pyewacket) but we still have plenty of furniture & accessories on show including our cornish slate and reclaimed oak dining table with benches. It has been greatly admired and we have a special reduced price for it for the open studios, so come along this weekend and take a look.
The Old Smithy Inn Country Fayre on Saturday night was another great success (we are so lucky to live so close to the lovely pub and to the beach!). Great music from a bunch of lovely people - Stuart did a nice mellow set, Jack and Gary played an acoustic set of their new material which was very different from their bands stuff but we loved it, and The Sum Of were amazingly good unplugged. It was good to catch up with friends we hadn't seen for a while.

we are taking part in this years Art Trek Open Studios, as part of the North Devon Festival, which sees artists all across North Devon opening their studios to visitors for two succsssive weekends. We will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm on the 19th, 20th & 21st and then again on the 26th, 27th & 28th june.
We will have lots of furniture including our beautiful oak edge & cornish slate dining table and a range of accessories: mirrors from £15, lanterns at £10 & £12.50, clocks from £60, our very popular bread boards from £15 and a couple of pieces of furniture at reduced prices especially for the open studio event.
We live and work in an old converted barn in Welcombe on the coast at the border of North Devon and North Cornwall - Welcombe Mouth beach is just down the track, there are beautiful woodland and coastal walks, and our great local pub, The Old Smithy Inn, is 150 yards from our house, so perfect for lunch or dinner if you come to visit us. Paul Jenner's photography studio will also be open in Welcombe, so don't forget to visit him too.
And Welcombe Pottery is right opposite The Old Smithy Inn, just up the track from us. There will be plenty of signs to find us.
The pub is having a Country Fayre on the 20th with pony rides for kids, a bbq and live music from 3 bands - so come and see us at the studio and then join us at the pub from 6pm.
